Welcome to Northwest School!  We have the best students in the world attending school here.  The dedication of our staff members is remarkable as everyone works hard to ensure all students reach their full potential in a structured, nurturing environment.  Our families are our biggest supporters, working collaboratively with the school as the primary educators of their children.

 

We continuously strive to improve in order to provide the best education possible for each child.  Our staff members participate in professional learning communities in which they look at student data and determine how best to adapt the educational program to reach the rigor required by the common core.  We are using technology and small group instruction to meet the needs of individual learners.  We have integrated a Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) system as well as a social emotional learning program to help educate the whole child.  We strive to help students become leaders in our school through such things as student council, service projects, and the student PBIS committee.

 

It takes a village to raise a child and we seek to involve the community in our school.  Our students take field trips that allow them to directly experience what they are learning.  The Mustangs in Action Parent club provides additional educational opportunities for our students and provides a means of feedback to the administration.  We also seek community member involvement in the school through such things as our career day and reading to our preschool students.

 

Northwest has been recognized for its great achievements with such awards as being on the SchoolSparrow's list of the Top 30 Hidden Gems for our students achievement/growth compared to our demographics, our Pre-K program is a Gold Circle of Quality recipient, we were recognized as Model School for Schoolwide because of our implementation of best practices in ELA, and we have received silver and gold recognition through Midwest PBIS because of the success of our students as a result of our PBIS efforts.
