We wanted to take the opportunity to notify you that repairs will begin taking place on the train tracks located at the intersection of Kedzie and 94th Street. The project is set to begin on Wednesday October 11th in the morning at approximately 6:00 a.m. and will impact travel time to D124 schools and traffic flow for an anticipated two weeks.
Railroads will be closed to vehicles crossing and pedestrian crossing which will impact arrival and dismissal of students.
Students will not be allowed to cross the area on foot. In coordination with the Evergreen Park Police Department, we are recommending that students who are walking to Central Middle School take the following detour:
- Head east on 94th street to Albany
- Head south on Albany towards 95th street
- Head west on 95th Street to Central Middle School
This project will impact traffic patterns surrounding our schools for an estimated time of two weeks. Please be aware that these traffic pattern changes will likely increase your normal time allocated for arrival and dismissal, but we will do everything we can to make this a smooth experience for all of our families. The police department will work to provide additional protocol during arrival and dismissal to ensure student safety. Crossing guards will also be stationed appropriately based on the above recommendations.
